ANDON system is a tool that can be used by the management to update themselves continuously about the status of the production/process of all the concerned units. Andon boards are very effective in the management of the manufacturing process, inventory, storage and service industry.Andon system is a tailor-made solution/ application for each industry or unit in which specific inputs about a specific problem/ solution-required can be collected from a sensor unit, a Google sheet, PLC based or can be manually entered via an input device. The system immediately indicates where the alert was generated, and also describes the type of alert. Andon systems can alert the management/supervisor with text and audio elements on an LED screen, computer or any other output device. Audio for different types of alerts may be coded with different tunes or prerecorded verbal messages. These messages can be transmitted through IP based / RF based/wired / PLC integrated system, from the alert source to the display system of the supervisor.Andon systems may also serve as a source of information to the management thus helping them to drive continuous improvement in the production process. Andon boards help in the reduction of “work in progress” or “lag time” between the production cycles thus improving overall productivity and efficiency of the manufacturing unit. Not only this, these systems keep the MIS/status available for analysis of all such incidents concerning the event creator and the event frequency with the help of SD card / IP based Data Logger added to the motherboard, so that the nuisance issues can easily be separated and highlighted to the management. Andon system is designed specifically for each application however it typically has three components REMOTE CALL UNIT - Remote Call Unit can be a PCB sub-assembly, Buttons/ sensors / PLC input to identify events. DISPLAY UNIT- Display can be selected as per the requirement, it can be a LED screen, TV panel or any smart screen. CONTROL UNIT -It is a motherboard with a micro-controller embedded system for processing information and performing the designed task.
